The Vegan Beauty Guide to Activated Charcoal

The Vegan Beauty Guide to Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal has been the beauty ingredient of the year, with it popping up on the shelves across the country claiming to help clear skin, whiten teeth and detox hair. Activated charcoal is regular charcoal that is processed at high temperatures which changes its internal structure and produces a more porous ‘activated’ charcoal. Activated charcoal is great for pulling out impurities from the skin and teeth. Below I’ll let you know how to shop the trend, whilst staying vegan and cruelty free.

Black Mask – Pure Skincare London – £7.99

I got this wonderful mask from a VOBEAUTY box and absolutely love it. Mine came with a free applicator which really helps smooth the sticky charcoal mask on to skin. Peeling off this mask is reminiscent of peeling off PVA glue from your fingers after finishing a primary school art project (aka super satisfying). Watch this gorgeous mask in use here.

Vegan Beauty Advent Calendars

Vegan Beauty Advent Calendars

Beauty Advent Calendars have been on the rise over the last few years with many opting to treat their loved ones (or themselves) to beauty products rather than chocolate. The vegan and cruelty-free offerings are limited but below are the one’s which I’ve found for the run up to Christmas 2017.

The Cruelty Free Beauty Shop – 12 Days of Christmas Calendar – £40

This box contains a mix of twelve full size and mini products which are all vegan and cruelty free. With this box being worth over £80 it’s great value for money and is likely to get snapped up fast. Get on Santa’s nice list by purchasing this as 10% of Profits will be donated to Hillside Animal Sanctuary, Greyhound Rescue Wales & Hull Animal Welfare Trust. Looking closely at the picture goodies are likely to include Bloomtown Soap, Lucky Cloud Lip Balm, a Bellapierre goody and a Manna Kadar Highlighter Duo.

My Favourite Vegan All-in-One

My Favourite Vegan All-in-One

This Multi-Use Cream Face Palette by Nude & Noir has revolutionised my over night bag. I spend a lot of time at my boyfriends or visiting friends at the weekend and hate taking tonnes of cosmetics along with me, but also want to look lush the next morning.

This all-in-one means I’ve got my contouring, glow, blush, lips & eyes all sorted. With coconut oil at the heart of this palette all you need is your fingers to apply these beautiful colours – no need for a collection of brushes. The mirror is super handy for touching up make up when out and about – I use mine mostly on the tube or at my boyfriend’s as he has no mirror in his room (no amount of nagging has changed this). Most importantly, this palette is cruelty free, eco-friendly and vegan. Read more

Your Vegan Halloween Make Up Kit

Your Vegan Halloween Make Up Kit

Halloween is the one night a year you can go absolutely crazy with your makeup and create the most intricate, scary, disgusting or alluring looks you can muster. In the run up to Halloween I love binge watching YouTubers create the most scary looks possible, but get frustrated with all the non-vegan products they use. The below guide should help you find the vegan alternatives to the typically used Halloween products.

Review: SkinYoga Fresh Orange Body Mousse

Review: SkinYoga Fresh Orange Body Mousse

This Fresh Orange Body Mousse (available here) smells incredibly citrus and leaves your body feeling fresh. Softly uplifting, it’s wonderfully relaxing to massage this into your body whilst inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply. Take your time to focus on each limb and rub the mousse onto your skin in circular movements. This is best used on warm, wet skin – so pause your shower once your pores have opened up and give your body the time and attention it deserves.

5 Amazing Vegan Beauty Boxes

5 Amazing Vegan Beauty Boxes

Beauty boxes are a beautiful thing. They’re becoming increasingly popular, as we prove to love having surprise boxes filled with beauty treats delivered to our door.  These boxes typically contain a good mixed of new brands and old favourites, as well as guaranteeing a bargain.

Best of all, us vegans don’t have to miss out. I’ve collected together some of the best vegan beauty boxes out on the market. These are particularly perfect for new vegans that are trying to veganise their makeup bag, as you can try a lot of brands without spending a fortune.

VOBEAUTY Box

Frequency: Monthly

Price: £10 – £15.95, free UK shipping

Discount code: VOBBOX15 – save 15% off your whole order, including shop items.

So I’ve not been signed up to any beauty boxes for a while, as I keep clogging up my makeup bag with stuff I don’t really need. Whilst VOBEAUTY do a gorgeous surprise subscription box too (£15.95), what I love most about them is that you can build your own box. All their products are vegan and cruelty free, so you’re free to make your choices.  You can choose to grab 3 (£10) or 5 (£15.95) products out of roughly 9-12 on offer, no subscription necessary. I find this gives me the opportunity to try out new brands at a good price, without getting stuck with products that I don’t want.

Your Guide to Vegan Perfumes

Your Guide to Vegan Perfumes

Breathe in, breathe out. Today we’re covering scents.

So what makes perfume non-vegan? Whilst the ingredients can be non-vegan, more frequently the real issue is with the company and it’s policies. If you have a company that tests on animals, or allows others to test on animals (ie if a company sells in China) then it’s not cruelty free.

Don’t worry, I’ll be covering dupes, high street and high end. No more smelling of hemp and asparagus (or whatever it is a vegan stereotype is to smell like).

Review: Sukin Facial Moisturiser + Discount Code

Review: Sukin Facial Moisturiser + Discount Code

I’ve introduced this Sukin Facial Moisturiser (available here) into my skincare routine as both a morning and evening moisturiser over the past week and it’s been wonderful. My skin can get very dry easily when the weather is erratic (which it has been lately, British summer and all) so it’s important for me to have a good quality moisturiser.
